Teachers are trained to encourage successful learning habits of Students

Oak Heights has had an excellent start to the first term of this academic year. With new students joining every week, it seems like we are gaining popularity, which could be due the high GCSE grades achieved by our students each year. As an independent school, we have a high reputation which must be kept consistent throughout the year. This includes presentation organisation and education. Oak Heights has a set of rules which is followed by every student. Students who fail to comply with the rules will be punished, which usually results in after school detentions or for more serious incidents; Saturday detention or exclusion.
Oak Heights avoids the straight approach of learning solely for the purpose of passing relevant examinations and strives to implement innovative, fresh and cutting-edge methods of teaching so as to encourage broad-minded mentality and comprehension. Each student has their own special talents – some are brilliant at sport, others in drama and a few just have the innate ability to debate over anything and everything affecting society today. When it comes to teaching, emphasis is placed on examination technique, especially with the upper years. Past paper questions for homework and tests, once key topics have been covered.
This week at Oak Heights has been very moving, with upcoming trips and events, the students are excited to go Ice skating at the natural history museum in London. Our teachers are trained to encourage successful learning habits to ensure that all students achieve their potential in examinations and to ensure that the schools learning environment is professionally managed, welcoming and enjoyable for all. We do this by offering outstanding modern day teaching and traditional teaching methods to small focused classes that allow teaching and learning to be efficient. Over the years we have become popular with the exam centre. With examinations being booked almost every day we advise students to apply as soon as possible before the initial deadline to prevent paying a late fee. With many years of experience, we are professional at ensuring that each student is being examined in quiet and fair conditions as advised by the exam boards.
Oak Heights Tuition centre has taken it further, with Saturday classes instead of Friday night. Students will no longer need to stay after school on a Friday but come to school on a Saturday morning to attend the tuition classes. These classes are particularly important for the weaker students who lack understanding of homework or any outstanding class work. We also accept external students to attend these classes but be advised; places are filling up very quickly, so email us at enquires@oakheights.co.uk as soon as possible if you're interested.

Homework is very important

Students have settled in quickly within the first month of school after the summer holidays and we are already coming up to our first half term, which will commence from Monday 26th October to Tuesday 3rd November. Students will break up this Friday at the usual time. So far, this term has been a success and as you may or may not know there have been many improvements to the school compared to last term. This includes the new projectors in every class and new computer and IT resources. As well as the updated technology around the school, we have also made improvements to the science lab; which is being used more than ever before for beneficial practical learning skills which are particularly useful when it comes to GCSE practical examinations.
We would like to remind all students that we expect punctuality, uniform, homework and folders to be up to standards. Any student who does not meet the expectations will be asked to attend school on a Saturday. Be advised that spot checks will be taking place at random as well as folders and homework checks, so please ensure it is always organised. We would also like to inform you that we are pleased to introduce a homework service, which will give you an opportunity to know what homework has been set by each teacher for your child to complete. This new homework system will be starting soon.
At Oak Heights, we believe that homework is very important. We ensure that students have homework to complete every week and that it is complete up to standard. Our students understand that in order to achieve successful results, it is vital to complete class work as well as homework. As an independent school, Oak Heights has a high standard that must be attained throughout, this includes students; results, behaviour, discipline and homework. Homework is particularly important for the teachers to know that the students fully understand what they have learnt in class.
We look forward to seeing everybody happy and well after half term and most importantly fresh and ready learn. If you have any quires, feel free to contact the school via email for a swift reply. Alternatively you can call the school for an immediate response. It is important that parents communicate with us whenever necessary to prevent any misunderstandings and to review our student's progress. Thank you for your continuous support at Oak Heights.

How we promote success at Oak heights Independent School

At Oak Heights we offer teaching and learning to take place within small class sizes. Our children are happy, confident, and accustomed to establishing lasting relationships within a positive and peaceful atmosphere. We work closely with parents and keep them up to date with their children's progress. We also offer free after school tuition classes for our students. This provides parents with the peace of mind that their children are participating in extra curricular activities and benefiting from it, all inclusively.
Our academic timetable highlights the emphasis we place on the development of Mathematics and literacy. Consistent effort is also made to develop young minds and good study habits. Cultural and artistic awareness is never neglected and students become experienced in forming and developing their own opinions over current affairs through daily discussions and debates over both key national and worldwide concerns. We take care that, whether during lessons or in assemblies, students participate in discussions and debates in which opposing views are presented in a balanced way and students are encouraged to form their own views on the basis of a wide range of accurate facts. Workshops, school council meetings and assemblies are held on a regular basis to ensure political views are not promoted in any subject. School trips and excursions are organised to enhance this exposure, implanting the seeds for well-rounded personal growth. Individuality is cherished in a way that allows the students to think for themselves and pursue their interests and strengths and ultimately, build upon their self-confidence.
The School is actively looking to expand in Red Lion Court. Over the past five years the school increased by 20% in size and now serves students drawn largely from the local community. It strives to nurture, educate and cultivate the most adventurously bright, intellectual spirits to produce top future professionals. Through maintaining an unwavering disciplinary stance, the focus continually remains on teaching meticulously designed programs, which encompass all of the strengths of the national curriculum as well as other social dimensions to facilitate effective learning. Career success is of utmost priority. Both staff and students alike coordinate well in sharing the vital determination to pave the pathways to achievement; be it in the Law, Medicine, Finance or Arts employment sectors.

History of Oak Heights Independent School in Hounslow

In its 10 years, Oak Heights in Hounslow has had hundreds of students. Many of these students have found their years at Oak Heights amongst the happiest and most rewarding of their lives, both socially and academically. The School, established in 2006, is a small co-educational day school for pupils between 11 and 16, and is situated in one of the largest Boroughs in the UK, the Borough of Hounslow. The school focuses on getting students to think for themselves and to develop study skills as well as life skills. We also teach students to respect others and to contribute their time towards the community. Oak Heights School has a thriving relationship with its former students, many of whom still visit from time to time. The friendliness and formality of the school engenders an attitude whereby former students and staff see the college as a place to re-visit. Some former students have even returned to the school as members of staff. We hope that our ethos will inspire students to become tomorrow's leaders and pioneers. With the right level of discipline, guidance and by paying great attention to each individual student we hope the school will charter education beyond the national curriculum.
We are delighted to announce that Oak Heights, in Hounslow is one of the top performing selective Independent Schools in the Borough of Hounslow, achieving excellent GCSE results. In the past, the school has achieved numerous awards in addition to The Good Schools Guide for best GCSE results at an English Independent School. We are very proud of our students’ achievement and acknowledge the primary importance of their effort. Without their ambition, determination and hard work our school would not be as successful as it is. The success is mostly due to the standard of learning and advice that we give to our students such as: high expectations which are encouraged and nurtured by some very talented teachers, Small classes which promote engagement with teachers which is further enhanced by extending the normal teaching time and preparation for examination and constant regular testing which provides a vital benchmark for all.
Oak Heights Independent School, in Hounslow, is one of the few, if not the only, exam centre in the Borough of Hounslow, London which accommodates GCSE and A Level examinations, private tuition and science workshops to private candidates. Private candidates have the opportunity to sit their examinations on the school premises in a controlled, invigilated environment. A comprehensive understanding of the OCR, WJEC and Edexcel and Cambridge CIE GCSE and A Level syllabuses means advice can often be provided over deciding which modules/units are most suitable for different situations.
