OAK HEIGHTS SCHOOL IN HOUNSLOW AND THE TUITION CENTRE

Oak Heights are now approaching their end of term exams which will start on Wednesday. All end of term exams are very important for each student as it is a test which covers all the topics learnt from the beginning of the term. It is important for the students to show that they understand all the topics to a high level. Students are expected to pass at a high rate in order for them to move and stay on top of their class when the next term starts. Students who do not perform as well in class are then referred to after school workshops which are available for students who need extra help to gain the extra push they need in order to achieve higher results. For all students who attend Oak Heights School, tuition after school is free of charge which means they are able to enhance their knowledge and work on where they are not doing as well out of class time.
All practical exams which our year 11 students where carrying out are now all completed and the written papers have begun. This is the final stage for our students are their final GCSE exams are only a few weeks away. Oak Heights School gives full confidence and support to all the students who need the extra help to achieve their grades. Teachers help students during lessons and also after school. We now have revision week for all the students which means all years are studying for their exams especially the older years as this will affect their final GCSE papers.
Oak Heights Tuition Centre is also soon to offer Punjabi and Arabic at GCSE level. These tuition lessons will be held after school where anyone who wishes to learn Arabic or Punjabi at GCSE level is able to come in and sign up to be taught. Depending on how popular the courses are and how high the demand is we also might consider offering Urdu in the near future.
We have a week of school left until we break up for Easter Holidays! Oak Heights School will be off for 2 weeks as it is the end of the term and also for Easter. On our first week back we will be going to PGL as our annual school trip as a school. Children will be away for the weekend where they will be carrying out many individual activities as well as carrying out other activities showing how well they are able to work within a team. As our older students have already been, we always aim to go to different PGL centres each year in order to make it interesting for all of the students. However, this is a first time experience for the year 7's as this will be their first trip away for the weekend with Oak Heights School.

Oak Heights school in Term 2

Its that time again ! Students from Oak Heights school in Hounslow are now in the final stages of their controlled assessments. When finished, students will then be able to concentrate on their GCSE examinations which start from May 12th 2015. Students from Oak Heights school in Hounslow have already been given their revision task sheets along with their timetables. Good luck year 11's s!

Our second Parents Day for this academic year took place in February 2015. This gave teachers and parents a chance to discuss the progress of their child and for some it will also be a chance to meet for the first time if they have only just joined Oak Heights this academic year! Sixth Form and college placements were also discussed with parents

As part of our Term 2 is near the end we have organised a mufti day on Red nose day which is to be held on friday 13th.

We will also be holding a cake baking competition The competition is open for all the students in the school. Being creative allows the child to expand their thinking and creativity skills. The judgement criteria will be based on things such as taste, texture, appearance and creativity. Students will then go on to develop their entrepreneurial skills by selling on any remaining cupcakes to the school. All proceedings will go to a trust.

Oak Heights tuition has also been a success in its first year. The tuition centre offers external candidates the opportunity to learn English, Maths, Science and also Languages. The centre is offering Punjabi, Urdu and Arabic lessons from the age of year 6. Students will have the opportunity to sit GCSE's examinations at our centre when they are in year 11 as an external candidate.

OAK HEIGHTS SCHOOL TERM 2 NEWS

As well as Oak Heights offering exceptional education, we also offer students both internal and external to join Oak Heights Tuition. The tuition centre offers after school classes in order to give children the extra push which is needed in order for them to achieve to their highest capability. An initial test is given before they start which allows us to see what the weak and strong points of the children are and what can be done for them to improve. We work with the students to see which method they respond to and understand best when giving them support lessons.
As well as usual tuition which we as a school provide children, we also have after school workshops which take place for the year 11 students in order for them to get enough exam practise to be confident when taking their actual GCSE's. The tuition centre in Hounslow offers English, Maths, Science, French, Spanish and History after school. These workshops are vital as there is only 3 weeks left until half term which means when the students are back their exams will commence.
On the brighter side at Oak Heights in Hounslow we have also organised many tournaments for the children to also have a break from all the exam stress. We will be having a basketball tournament within the next few weeks where all students participating have chosen their teams and will be competing against one another. This tournament will take place at Osterley Leisure Centre. Other tournaments we are going to be organising will be football and Goals and lastly a badminton event which will also take place at Osterley Leisure Centre.
We also have our school trip taking place after the half term on the first weekend back. This trip will last 3 days where we will be going on Friday and returning Sunday evening. This is an exciting event for all the students as well as the teachers who are participating as there are many different activities which take place. These activities are equally fun for children and adults which make's the trip a fun weekend away for all. This is a good opportunity for all the children to be active and carrying out many activities which will help them improve their confidence and team work skills.
At Oak Heights School in Hounslow we aim to balance out the work load with many fun activities. Students should feel as if they are awarded for their hard work and efforts as it would make them want to work even harder. Children are given the luxury to give us their best chosen places to attend for school trips and we then try out best to organise a trip best fit for all of the students. This helps the students to feel as if they are apart of the school and their intake is vital to us.

What to look forward to in Term 2 at Oak Heights school in Hounslow

Coming to the end of the term we have much more to look forward to in term 2! Oak heights school like to recognise hard work and punctual students. We will have an assembly on the last day of school were we distribute certificates to specific students for their good hard work or having a continuous good punctuality. It is important to show students that their hard work is recognised as this motivates them to work harder and continue to perform at a high level. We have many students who have worked hard throughout the term and will be rewarded. Having certificates showing your commitment to hard work is good for every students records which is why at Oak Heights we ensure all students are rewarded.
Seeing as the students collect house points throughout the whole term, it’s come to the conclusion of Red house winning as they have the most house points! They will be rewarded with a fun house trip as a reward of their hard team work to win. We will be excited to see who next terms winners will be at Oak Heights School. As the weather will be warming up we will also have our annual trip to PGL where the children are away for the weekend completing many tasks and activities. PGL is a very active trip as they complete many activities such as raft building and canoeing and so on! It is seen to be a good experience as we know from feedback which is why the trip is held on an annual basis.

Coming to an end at Oak Heights school in term 1

Coming up to mid week most of the charity events have no taken place and money is raised. The raffle winner was a fellow student from year 8 which means he does not get any homework for the whole week! Second runner up was a year 11 student which means he is able to eat anything for lunch healthy or not! At Oak Heights School we ensure all students are eating healthy food and not consuming fizzy drink. This however will be a one off exception. The third runner up was a year 9 girl, the year 9 girl was able to join the end of term trip for the winning house team. We are delighted to say we managed to raise £125 from just the raffle event. Oak heights still needs to sum up the money raised from the other events and sum up the total amount which we will donate. Fund-raising will commerce until the end of the week for Children in Need charity.
On Friday the year 11's will be going to a trip relevant to History as they go to The Tower of London. This would be a good experience for the students where they will gain knowledge of many items which are seen to be symbolic of Britain. These items at first where only privileged where as now they are able to be seen. Following onto next week the year 9 and 10's have another compulsory trip where they will be visiting the Theatre Show watching "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time"
On Wednesday we also had our tournament at Goals take place where students had created mixed teams from all years 5 a side and played matches till one team was the winner. Team Abriza won the tournament as they won the most matches. Overall this was a good experience for the children alongside being a fun day out for them. This was the first football tournament which had taken place for our new year 7's. The feedback from the students was positive and it is an event we would book in the future.

Oak Heights school end of term 1

Oak Heights School is getting closer to their Christmas holidays. Charity week is now over and the students had great participation in fund raising and done an excellent job. Throughout this week and next week we have study week for the children to study and be ready for their end of term exams. Alongside the fun the students have had at Oak Heights School the children will now have to put their heads down and study hard!
It has been an exciting and eventful week at Oak Heights as the students have been busy on school trips. Mid week Oak Heights had their wonderful annual Christmas trip which this year was to Winter Wonderland Ice Skating Rink. The children had an amazing time as it was a first time experience for most. Many children did not know how to skate and by the end of the session where skating which was a great achievement. Organising a trip to Winter Wonderland was a first for Oak Heights School as usually during Christmas we attend the National History Museum but we thought changing the annual school trip would be a great surprise for the students. Both the students and teachers who supervised the trip had great fun and having time left over we also went on many rides after skating and having lunch together.
Alongside the fun trip the children had this week we also had our compulsory English trip which was to the theatre as well for students within year 9 and 10. The trip was allocated to the theatre to watch 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This is a mystery novel written in 2003 by writer Mark Haddon which was studied last year by the year 10's and currently studied by the year 9's. Watching the show will give the children an insight to understand the story line in more depth and get a more vivid image of what the story is about. Having a more vivid image will allow the children to expand their minds when doing their written work in class based on this play to attain good marks.

Oak Heights school in Hounslow holds charity events in term 1

It’s a new week at Oak Heights School! Throughout the week we have all the Children in Need Charity events taking place. All students at Oak Heights are so excited to see how much money we are able to raise and help our community. As the week begins we have our first events taking place at first break and lunch. All activities are organised by the school council members of each year considering ideas from their fellow class students. We aim to create strong characters throughout Oak Heights School with good communication skills and be moulded into leaders. Whether the children are in year 7 or 11 they are all expected to be able to organise and carry out events managing all aspects. We have many functions starting as the week begins starting with The Ultimate skills challenge, Treat or Treat and Pin The Eye Patch On Pudsey all hosted by students in year 9.
We will come to see the outcome of the money raised by the end of the week and hopefully we will succeed just like last week with our Remembrance week charity donation. Oak Heights aim to achieve the highest and to participate within many occasions as possible. It is delightful seeing how supportive the children are at Oak Heights who are willing to take out their time to organise and raise money for charity helping out other vulnerable children.
All events are carried out fairly where all students get an equal chance of participating in all the events and receiving a chance to donate. Money will be collected at the end of the week from all the events and then the total amount will be donated towards the charity.
Alongside doing charity events for Children in Need, Oak Heights School head teacher has also organised a tournament of football for the school. This will be taking place on Wednesday 19th November 2014. Head girl and Head boy in year 11 was asked to create teams of 5 a side in order to carry out the matches. Seeing as the year 11's have had a stressful start to the year in regards to GCSE's as a school we thought it would be a good breather for the children! Students from all years where welcome to be apart of teams and come play football on Wednesday. All students participating will be supervised by Mr Dhillon and Mr Louis. Thursday will also be when the raffle winner will also be announced where the children will know who the winners are!
